Commercial risk,
clearly understood.

A living identity for a modern risk advisory. Human judgement, deep experience and smarter tools, brought together with clarity.

Who we are

Risk advice built around the business.

Contega is a modern risk advisory that combines deep expertise, genuine human attention and intelligent technology to help businesses understand risk and make better decisions.

Senior, intelligent and contemporary.
Never traditional.

What that means in practice

We are senior in experience, boutique in attention and modern in how we work. We listen closely, use data intelligently and turn complexity into clear, practical advice.

  1. Client-centred

We listen first, understand properly and respect the client’s time. Every recommendation begins with the business, not the policy.
  2. Advisory-led

Experienced judgement turns complexity into clear choices. Insurance is one part of the solution, not the starting point.
  3. Technology-enabled

Data and intelligent tools sharpen insight and decisions without replacing genuine human attention.

How we show up

These traits guide the way Contega behaves, communicates and advises.

Quiet confidence
Assured and prepared, without needing to make noise.
Human and empathetic
We listen first, understand properly and respect people’s time.
Modern in thought
We embrace data and technology without becoming cold or platform-led.
Authentic and direct
No pretence, unnecessary performance or traditional brokerage theatre.
Boutique in attention
Personal in care and standards, with the expertise and ambition to grow.

Foundation

Understand to protect, together.

Contega looks beyond insurance to understand each business, uncover its risks and identify what matters most.
We listen closely, question carefully and build a clear picture before recommending a way forward.
Human
Genuinely interested in people and the businesses they have built.
Experienced
Deep expertise expressed with honesty, calm authority and quiet confidence.
Modern
Technology-enabled and boutique, without feeling like a platform or a traditional brokerage.

One approach, four stages

The same four stages everywhere, told at three depths: one line each on the homepage, each stage expanded on How we work, and the stage name above a sector headline on solutions pages. Stay alongside uses the Partnership shield icon.

  1. Observe

We get to know your business in depth, and what it relies on.

  2. Analyse

We examine the risks and work through what they mean for you.

  3. Protect

We recommend a way forward and arrange insurance shaped around what matters.

  4. Stay alongside

We stay close through claims and renewals, and adjust the program as your business changes.

Identity

The Modern Shield.

The letter C and a shield come together as one resolved mark: protection through partnership. The shield and the contega wordmark always share one colour in the standard logo.

Authoritative. Modern. Distinctive.

Pronounced con-TEG-a Hard “g”, with emphasis on “TEG”.

Primary logo

The preferred signature for most brand and digital applications. The shield and the contega wordmark share one colour: Clay. Use it on light and dark backgrounds, and Clay on Coffee when the logo needs to be contained.

Risk Advisory lock-up

The secondary signature, for when the audience needs Contega’s service made explicit. The two-tone version, with “risk advisory” in Blue Grey, is the preferred expression wherever the descriptor stays clear: on light backgrounds at header size and larger, and at large sizes on dark. Otherwise use a one-colour version.

Standalone shield

The most compact signature. Use it alone where the brand is already identifiable, or where the format calls for a compact mark: favicons, social avatars, app icons and profile images. Black and white are for single-colour reproduction; the square and circle contain the shield for avatars, tiles and social profiles. It can also be enlarged as a graphic device: in one colour, in three colours as on the capability statement covers, or as a tonal shield behind a Clay statement band (Brick at 13%, capped at the homepage size; text over it is large text only).

Clear space

Keep a minimum clear space of X around the logo, where X is the size of the shield. Keep the area free from text, graphics and edges. The same rule applies to the Risk Advisory lock-up. For the contained shield, keep X on every side of a 3X shield.

Choosing a logo

There is no single minimum size. Choose the version by how far away it is read and how much room it has: step down from the lock-up to the wordmark when “risk advisory” stops reading comfortably, and to the shield only when Contega is already clear.

Risk Advisory lock-up
When the audience needs to know what Contega does and the descriptor reads comfortably at the viewing distance: desktop website headers, proposals, report covers, presentations and signage. “Large sizes” on dark means 240px wide or more, as in a website footer.
Contega wordmark
When “risk advisory” would no longer read comfortably: mobile headers, email signatures, small print, dense layouts and co-branded placements. A website may also use it in the desktop header (240px, compacting to 160px on scroll) when the Risk Advisory lock-up appears elsewhere on the page, usually the footer.
Shield alone
Only where the brand is already identified nearby, or the format needs a compact mark: favicons, social avatars, app icons and repeated slide footers.

Contega leads
The Cohabit Group comes after the Contega brand and is always smaller. Never place it in a header, and never lock it up beside or above the Contega logo.
Words as written
Line: “Part of the Cohabit Group, a risk intelligence company.” Band: “A Cohabit Group company”, followed by the supplied sentence. Do not shorten, reword or add claims about the group.
Supplied artwork only
Use the Cohabit Group files as supplied: cobalt and navy on light backgrounds, all white on dark backgrounds and photography. Never recolour them into the Contega palette.
Size and space
In the band, keep the Cohabit logo well below the Contega logo’s size (no wider than about a third of the column). On documents, it can sit at small-text height above the line.

Brand iconography

Shield icons.

Built from the geometry of the shield, the shield icons are a distinctive brand device for considered moments. The set stays small on purpose: each design covers a family of related ideas, so the system can grow without a bespoke icon for every service or risk category.

How to use shield icons

These rules keep the set distinctive. Where a layout needs many icons, small icons or interface controls, use the functional icons in the UI system instead.

For larger moments
Presentations, reports, web content and service communications. Not navigation, controls, data or dashboards.
Large enough to read
Use them at a size where the fine linework stays visible, and sparingly: a few per page or spread, not a row of twenty.
Always labelled
Pair every icon with a text label. The icon supports the idea; the words carry it.
One design, related ideas
A single icon can carry more than one related concept. Reuse the set before asking for a new icon.
The four stages
Observe, Analyse and Protect carry their own stages; Partnership is the icon for Stay alongside. Use these four wherever the approach appears.
Light surfaces, or the Dark Teal tile
Use the icons on light surfaces, or on the Dark Teal tile as shown here. Never on Dark Charcoal or other dark surfaces, where the fine linework disappears.

Extending the set

First check whether an existing icon already carries the idea. If a new concept needs its own icon, start from this prompt with the shield icon artwork as the reference, then review the draft against the set for silhouette, central point, line weight and level of detail before it is added.

Download the shield icon set

AI prompt: new shield icons

One concept, or two closely related ones. For example: supply chain risk.

Prompt

Using the supplied Contega Shield Icon as the exact structural reference, create an icon representing [CONCEPT]. Maintain the existing shield silhouette and central circular point. Use simple, precise linework derived from the shield geometry. Keep the design minimal, abstract and architectural, with a similar level of detail and visual weight to the existing icon set. Avoid literal symbols, pictograms, text, charts or unnecessary detail. The finished icon should feel intelligent, technical and consistent with the Contega identity.

A starting point for a draft, not an approved icon.

Colour

Warmth, clarity and range.

Coral creates energy. Clay carries the identity. A broad family of cool and warm greys gives digital products, reports and communications enough range without losing composure.

Primary palette

Start here. Clay carries the identity, Brick adds depth, Coral is the single accent, and Dark Charcoal and Light Silver are the canvases most pieces sit on.

Brand
Clay is the preferred logo colour. Brick adds depth and warmth. Clay may set small decorative text on light, eyebrows and card numerals only, always beside a larger heading: an accepted exception to contrast for text that is never needed to act.
Accent
Use Coral for focused emphasis, interaction and signals. It should punctuate rather than flood a layout.
Supporting
Blue, green and brown greys create distinct environments across web, dashboard, report and social applications.

Brand imagery

Show what’s worth protecting.

Brand imagery extends the shield beyond the logo. Two treatments, the shield and the frame, each a reusable pattern: the form stays the same and the imagery inside it changes with the story.

Shield images

Photography contained within the shield, combining people, places or detail, or the shield as a fine outline. Use selectively, for strong and recognisable brand moments.

Colour only

The approved form with no photograph.

One image

A single photograph across the complete form.

Three images

One image per block, telling one story.

Outline only

A fine line graphic: the lightest expression.

Framed images

Photography within a rectangular frame that carries the curves and geometry of the shield. Suited to larger imagery and content-led layouts, in portrait or landscape.

Colour only

The frame in a palette colour.

One image

A single photograph across the frame.

Three images

One image per block, telling one story.

Landscape

The landscape frame follows the shield: a tall block beside two stacked blocks. Here, two blocks carry photographs and one stays in colour.

Changing the imagery

These are patterns, not fixed artworks. The same rules apply in Figma and code (BrandImage and ShieldOutline).

Change the photographs, not the form
The shield and frame geometry is fixed. Swap the images inside the blocks, and choose a new block colour from the palette when a block has no image.
One image
Choose a photograph with its subject away from the gaps, and set the focus (top, bottom, left, right or centre) so the important part stays in view.
Three images
One story in three parts: a person, their environment and a detail. Match the light, colour temperature and scale so the three read as one composition. Leave a block in colour rather than force in an unrelated image.
Outline
Keep it a fine line. Never fill it, thicken it or use it as an image mask. Cut-out subjects (a person or object with the background removed, in front of a shield shape) are approved case by case by the brand owner.

Photography

Observed, not staged.

Contega photography feels observational, intelligent and grounded in the real world. People are captured naturally, in conversation, working together or in their own business environments. Architecture, materials and technology add structure and context.

Advice in action

Conversation, listening and working through a problem together.

  • Two people in conversation, framed through soft foreground blur
  • A small team meeting in a warm timber-lined room
  • Clients listening closely around a table

Clients and their worlds

The people, places and movement of the businesses we protect.

  • People crossing a sunlit concourse, seen from above
  • People walking past a warm wall, softened by motion blur
  • Figures moving along a stair rail in black and white

Technology and intelligence

Data and tools used in context, by people, not as abstract screens.

  • Two colleagues working at screens of code
  • A phone in hand, lit against a dark teal background
  • A person holding a laptop in a sunlit corridor

Structure and detail

Architecture, materials and light that support the story, never the only subject.

  • Silhouettes on an escalator against tall windows
  • Curving timber slats
  • White architectural lines against a dark facade

Favour

  • Candid people in real business environments, unaware of the camera
  • Natural movement, light and reflections
  • Considered framing: interesting crops, negative space, foreground elements
  • Restrained colour: warm amber and cream balanced by charcoal, slate and cool neutrals

Avoid

  • Posed boardroom meetings, handshakes and looks to camera (leader and adviser profiles may look to camera)
  • Generic corporate stock and overly polished offices
  • Obvious insurance imagery
  • Strong orange or yellow colour casts

How to use it

  1. Choose the subject and where the image will sit (page header, shield, frame block, report cover).
  2. Attach approved Contega photography from this page as references.
  3. Write the subject into the prompt and generate several options.
  4. Review each result before use: believable people and hands, a relevant business context, composition that suits the placement, and restrained colour.
  5. Confirm the image is cleared for publication, whether stock or generated, before it goes on a public page.

The prompt is a starting point for art direction. A generated image is not approved until it has been reviewed.

AI prompt: new people photography

For example: a site manager and adviser walking a warehouse floor, early morning light.

Prompt

Using the supplied Contega photography as a visual reference, create a natural, editorial-style image for a contemporary commercial risk advisory brand. Photography should feel observational, intelligent and grounded in the real world, never staged or overly corporate. Capture candid moments, natural movement, considered architectural details or technology being used in context. Use warm neutral tones, natural light, soft reflections, subtle foreground blur and occasional motion blur to create depth. Keep the colour treatment restrained, with warm amber and cream tones balanced by charcoal, slate and cooler neutrals. Avoid strong orange or yellow colour casts. Composition should feel sophisticated and slightly unexpected, using interesting crops, negative space, foreground elements or architectural framing. People should feel unaware of the camera and should not pose or look directly at it. Avoid generic corporate stock photography, handshakes, posed boardroom meetings, exaggerated expressions, overly polished offices or obvious insurance imagery. Subject: [Describe the required scene, environment, people, technology or architectural detail.]

Voice

Calm enough to be trusted. Clear enough to act on.

Contega speaks like an experienced adviser sitting beside the client: direct, considered and human. Never distant. Never breathless.
  1. Clear

Lead with what matters. Explain complexity without making the reader feel excluded.
  2. Considered

Make claims we can stand behind. Precision is more persuasive than volume.
  3. Human

Write person to person. Warmth comes through attention, not forced friendliness.
  4. Confident

Use active language and informed recommendations. Avoid swagger and absolutes.

Lucide, 1.5px stroke

For navigation, controls, status, infographics, data and dashboards. Small, simple and repeatable: 16 to 24px, one colour, next to a label or with an accessible name. Find icons at lucide.dev, or see iconography in the design system.

Shield icons

Expressive, for larger moments

Brand assets for presentations, reports and web content, never interface controls. If an interface needs many small icons, use Lucide. See Brand iconography.

Motion

Considered movement. Every movement reveals, orients or confirms, using the motion tokens. Brand moments play once as they arrive; interface feedback is quick and quiet. Replay each example below.

We listen closely, question carefully and build a clear picture before recommending a way forward.

Statements land on the emphasis

The sentence rises in quickly and the Manuale italic words arrive a beat later. One statement per page, never running text.

Shield images come together

The blocks settle into place from slightly apart and the photograph eases back from a gentle zoom. Once per page at most.
  1. Observe

We get to know your business in depth, and what it relies on.

  2. Analyse

We examine the risks and work through what they mean for you.

  3. Protect

  4. Stay alongside

We stay close through claims and renewals, and adjust the program as your business changes.

The approach draws stage to stage

Each stage appears in turn, then the Clay connector draws to the next, within about 1.5 seconds, as on the website homepage. Used where the four stages are the point of the section.

Sections settle in

The one looping exception: a slow crossfade every 7 seconds, with a pause control in the lower-right block. Pauses off-screen; a still image with reduced motion.

Interface feedback

Lucide icons respond: the arrow leans forward on hover (160ms), the accordion turns as it opens (240ms), and a tick draws in to confirm (240ms). Try each one.
Reveal, orient, confirm
Every movement has one of these jobs. Nothing bounces or moves for attention, and only one thing loops: rotating hero images.
The one exception: hero images
A website hero frame may rotate its photographs: a slow crossfade (1400ms) every 7 seconds, with a pause control, pausing off-screen and showing a still image with reduced motion.
One brand moment per view
A statement landing on its emphasis, or a shield or frame image coming together. Not both on the same screen. Interface feedback can sit alongside.
Once, on arrival
Brand moments play the first time they scroll into view, then stay at rest. Content is complete and readable without them.
Sections and card grids
Settle in as they arrive (240ms), cards 60ms apart. The band itself never moves.
Interface feedback
Lucide icons respond quietly: the arrow leans forward on hover (160ms), the accordion turns as it opens (240ms), a tick draws in to confirm (240ms).
Use the tokens
160ms for feedback, 240ms to reveal, 320ms for overlays and the closing beat of a brand moment. Brand moments finish within about 1.5 seconds.
Respect reduced motion
When someone asks their device for less motion, everything appears in its final state with no movement.
Radius
0–16px
Sharper for editorial surfaces, softer for interactive controls.
Spacing
4px base
A disciplined scale from 4 to 128 keeps rhythm consistent.
Motion
160–320ms
Quiet transitions should reveal, orient or confirm.
Accessibility
AA minimum
Readable contrast, visible focus and useful language are brand behaviours.

Working with AI

Brief the need, not just the format.

Two files give any AI collaborator what it needs: the brand context explains how Contega thinks, speaks and looks, and the briefing guide explains how to turn a request into the right piece of work.

How to use it

  1. Open the AI tool you normally use and attach the brand context and the briefing guide, plus any content, data or references for the job.
  2. Describe what you think you need in ordinary language. A formal brief is not required.
  3. Ask it to follow both files. It should clarify the purpose and audience, recommend a better format once if there is one, then start the work.
  4. Review the direction and the finished work. Correct assumptions, and review generated imagery and usage rights before anything is published.

A prompt to start with

For example: a slideshow from these notes to introduce Contega to a prospective client.

Prompt

You are helping shape and create work for Contega. Read both attached guides: use the brand context as the visual and verbal foundation, and follow the briefing guide to investigate the need before production. My request: [what I think I need] Source material: [content, links, data or files] Audience and context, if known: [who and where] Before making it, identify the business need and the change this work should create for its audience. Assess whether the format I've requested is the best fit. If there is a materially better option, recommend it briefly and explain why; otherwise proceed with my format. Ask only questions that would change the direction or quality of the result. When there is enough context, state your assumptions, sharpen the brief and start the work. Ground factual claims in the supplied material or cited sources. Keep the output recognisably Contega, and flag genuine gaps in the design system.

Fill in the source material and audience in your AI tool. The output is a draft until reviewed.

By task

The format decides which parts of the system to use.

Copy, documents and decks
Attach both files and use the starter prompt. The AI translates the system to the medium rather than forcing website components into a presentation or document.
Photography
Start from the photography prompt in Photography, write the subject and where the image will sit, and attach approved references.
A new shield icon
First check the existing set, then use the prompt in Brand iconography with an existing shield icon as the structural reference.
Digital products and code
Coding agents work from the design system: they read AGENTS.md, use only Contega components and tokens, and flag gaps rather than inventing styles.
